Ginola 'Keegan IS Newcastle'!

Last updated : 17 January 2008 By Footy Mad - Editor

Ginola says Keegan will be driven by a determination to make up for the narrow failure to win the Premier League in 1995-96.

The Magpies were 12 points clear of Man Utd at one stage, but a serious injury to Keith Gillespie at Old Trafford changed the formation of the team.

Keegan bought Tino Asprilla, and he was not an out-and-out winger, and the tactics didn't suit the front men.

It didn't happen for Newcastle back in 1996, but Ginola says Keegan will end the Magpies' long wait for silverware.

Ginola: "Newcastle haven't won anything for many years and they are desperate to win something.

"I'm pretty sure he's the guy who will bring success to Newcastle.

"The fans need success, it has been a long time coming, and he is the man the fans love and he loves the fans."

A delight to watch, David was inspirational in his early career at SJP. A world class player who was subject to abuse for letting slip the pass that cost his country, France, a place in the World Cup finals. But that just spurred him on to prove the doubters wrong. Went to Spurs in a controversial move. He said he wanted to return to France but ended up at White Hart Lane. Many supporters still haven't forgiven him for walking out. Born in Gassin.
