David Ginola: “It’s a bit of a shame to see the club struggling.

j“When you look at the stadium and the fans, you realise they deserve some good results.

"If the club could get back to having good results again, it would be amazing

“They should be at least challenging. I don’t mean they have to win trophies.

“They just need to be out there challenging the big boys and not struggling to stay in the league.

“That would be a major step forward. If they could step forward in that way, it would be amazing.”

"Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand and Faustino Asprilla were there and I would like to see the players reunited on a regular basis.

“We spoke in the dressing room together. It was fantastic in one way, but terrible in another.

"That’s because we would all like to be able to do this every week again. We know that it’s impossible.

“If we could do that more often, then that would be interesting.

“The response of the fans was amazing. The stadium was full, and that’s amazing.

“But it’s only in a place like Newcastle where you can find this passion for the game.”
