He claims he took Calpol in a bid to get drunk.

He would drink bottles of children's medicine because he "didn't want to be seen drinking".

Paul Gascoigne (talking to The Sun): "I went [into rehab] for laxatives, I went in for Red Bull, I went for Calpol. It was crazy.

"I thought it had 0.00001% alcohol in it and I thought if I drank enough it would get us drunk... I had loads of bottles. I was 37 or something."

"I remember once going to the chemist in Newcastle and someone said, 'What are you doing with this Calpol?' I said, 'I've got three girlfriends and nine kids and I need to feed the kids'. The woman said, 'F**k off and get out of here'."

Gascoigne and the Raoul Moat story ...

The Story about Gazza and the infamous Toon gangster Raoul Moat is now part of Newcastle legend.

Moat shot his own ex-girlfriend, her partner and himself, plus he blinded the late PC David Rathband by shooting him in the face while on the run.

Gazza arrived at the police cordon with a fishing rod, six-pack of lager and a KFC happy meal.

He told the police Moat was an acquaintance of his. However, that was not the case.

The scene was covered live on TV and how can we forget the incident when Gazza arrived, a police car shot off from a standing start ... and ran straight into the back of ANOTHER police car!

Priceless!

Gazza: "I don't know what the f**k I was doing.

"A f**king fishing rod and a chicken? What was that about?

"Fishing has helped me when I've been in a bad place and I must have thought it'd be the same for him."
