It was a positive week for those Newcastle loan stars in action over the past seven days.

The most eye-catching loan departure was that of loan forward Dwight Gayle who scored his first West Brom goal this weekend.

It was also a positive week for Josef Yarney as the defender made his debut for Morecambe.

Below is a full round-up of how Newcastle’s loan players fared this week.

The 28-year-old bagged West Brom’s fourth goal of the afternoon, tucking home from close range following Kieran Gibbs’ cutback.

Gayle, who was an unused substitute in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Luton in the Carabao Cup, was then replaced in the 83rd minute and he will hope to score goals on a regular basis for Darren Moore’s side now he is off the mark.

Jack Colback played the full 90 minutes on Saturday as Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 away at Wigan Athletic.

The midfielder picked up a yellow card during the game which saw Matty Cash fire in a last-minute equaliser for the Reds.

The 28-year-old was an unused substitute in Forest’s Carabao Cup penalty shootout win over Bury. Their prize, ironically, was a second-round clash with Newcastle.

Josef Yarney made his debut for Morecambe this week, playing two full games for the Shrimpers.

Unfortunately, both matches ended in defeat as Morecambe were beaten 3-1 by Preston in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday before losing out 1-0 at Stevenage in League Two on Saturday.

The 20-year-old centre-half picked up a yellow card in Saturday’s defeat but will look to build on the experience gained by being involved with Newcastle’s first-team during pre-season.
