Gazza will be accompanied by his agent Terry Baker in the event at Nine Bar.

The event is being organised by Newcastle Legends and will raise money for his sister’s charity the Jay Lennon Foundation.

Gascoigne has always spoken of his regret at leaving St James’, in a Chronicle interview back in 2010 he said: “The club were getting rid of Peter Beardsley and Chris Waddle during that era and we were all good mates.

“You had to ask at the time if they were getting rid of players like that ‘where do I stand?’

“We’d finished eighth and didn’t really add to the team.

“For me it was hard leaving my family to go to London, the team at Newcastle was also like a family.

“Stan Seymour was too busy eating cream cakes at the time I think!”

Steve Wraith, who runs the Newcastle Legends team, said: “ I have done a couple of events in the North-East with Paul but to do one at St James Park will be a first.

“His stage show is one of the best on the circuit and to be raising money for the Jay Lennon Foundation will make this night extra special.

“Gazza is looking forward to seeing friends and family and performing at his beloved Newcastle United again albeit in a different capacity.”

*The event takes place on August 17th, tickets are available from www.newcastlelegends.com priced from £50-£100
