Full backs in goal scoring battle!

Last updated : 18 November 2002 By Martyn Elliott

The Irishman has been taking some stick about his lack of goals in light of Andy Griffin’s recent strikes.

After dispatching his first Premiership goal since March 2000, he joked: "With Andy Griffin scoring so regularly from right-back these days, I felt I needed to get on to the scoresheet.

"And as I don't get many it was obviously nice to get the winner. The ball came to me from Hugo Viana and I just managed to take a touch with my left foot and then squeeze it in at the far post with my right foot."

Which full back will win the goalscoring contest remains to be seen.
