Fulham Boss: Toon Deserve Better Than This!

Roy Hodgson: "We came here to some extent as sacrificial lambs today.

"It was a great win here today. I feel sorry for Newcastle - they deserved better, we rode our luck on several occasions.

"We are thankful for a very good performance from our back four and goalkeeper."

Newcastle United were let down by too many weak characters, poor players and certain 'star' individuals who have cried off all season.

Michael Owen wasn't even on the bench yesterday, and I'll be surprised if he shows his face at Villa Park next Sunday.

He has been the most expensive FLOP in Newcastle history - and there won't be a single fan crying in their beer the day he hot-foots it out of St James' Park.

Jonas Gutierrez, described on 'Look North' as "all fur coat and no knickers", is another who has fooled the Geordie public. He couldn't a cow's arse with a banjo never mind score a goal.

He looks flash in patches, but he cannot pass a ball to save his life.

Mark Viduka is two stone over weight and breaks out in a sweat just walking out of the tunnel.

But the day we started to look the Championship full in the face was the day Shay Given left for pastures new.

Steve Harper is average (at best), Shay was the one world class player we had on our books.

Too many foreign players lacking quality, signed because they play in foreign leagues and in the words of Dennis Wise "must be good if they play in Spain".

The moral courage is missing from half that squad and the longer the season has gone on there has been no conviction from the big name signings in Newcastle side.

We are in trouble ... BIG trouble!
