Freddy must raise Kleberson bid

With Celtic, Athletico Madrid, Roma and Leeds all interested in his signature, the Brazilian club is holding out for a £3million plus offer.

Atletico Paranaense president Mario Celso Petraglia has revealed that Newcastle have made a bid, but a derisory one in his opinion.

"Some Newcastle representatives came to visit us, but they made such a short offer that the meeting didn't last long. They quickly returned to England," said Petraglia.

"They came here with a couple of million US dollars and thought they could get any player. They thought Brazilian football is in bankruptcy and on sale.

"We have until January 31 to find a team for Kleberson. And if we don't find one then he will stay in Atletico Paranaense for at least one more season."

There have been no new developments in the bid for Leeds defender Jonathan Woodgate at present.
