He added: "I was just mulling the possibility over. I wasn't planning on bringing him in as my number two or anything like that, I'm perfectly happy with Chris in that job.
"I thought about Gerry because he might have been able to come up here two days a week and work with the young players, but as I understand it, he already has an agreement with Stoke."
