Former midfielder reachs World Cup final

Ex-Toon midfielder Dietmar Hamann was instrumental today as a Germany side widely regarded as amongst their worst ever reached the World Cup final, life's just not fair sometimes.

A late goal from Michael Ballack saw the Germans through to the final by virtue of a 1-0 win over co-hosts South Korea.

They will go on to face the winner of the Brazil/Turkey semi-final tomorrow afternoon.

Hamann played the full 90 minutes of the game and is a dead cert to start in the final in Yokahoma on Sunday.

Haman came to St James Park in a £5.25million deal from Bayern Munich in August 1998.
