Paul Merson has explained that Newcastle United are entering a dangerous game against Huddersfield at the weekend that they need to win.
Magpies currently sit 16th-placed in the Premier League table and are just a point above the drop zone, while their upcoming opponents sit bottom and look destined to go down.
Rafael Benitez’s side welcome Huddersfield to St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon and three points would massively boost them.
Sky Sports pundit Merson does expect Newcastle to have enough to win the game with his 2-0 prediction, but states there will be a different type of pressure on the hosts to win.
“This is a must-win game for Newcastle. They have turned a bit of a corner recently but they have been playing games where they haven’t been expected to win and they have got results,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Now they have to turn up and win the game, which is a lot harder sometimes. When you are not expected to win, you can try and grind out a draw, but this could be a dangerous game for Newcastle.
“But with the run that Huddersfield have been on, I think Newcastle will win.”
