The Eagles' central defender has struggled to sleep since the south coast display that saw Palace lose 3-0 to their bitter rivals and miss the chance to leapfrog Watford and Hull into the automatic promotion places.

The Newcastle fan has taken stick on Twitter for his performance.

Peter Ramage: "I am still annoyed and angry about it. It was not a good day for us.

"I haven't really slept much since and keep thinking about it.

"There was not one player that was not angry and hurt by what happened and I know we are all going to be working hard to put what happened right.

"When you go on the social networks you put yourself up for this abuse.

"I can understand the frustrations but you have to look to block all that out and a lot of people realise one result doesn't make a season.

"We are just as hurt as they are and it is a little frustrating to see that abuse.

"The result was crap and the performance was crap but I take it personally when people criticise commitment and desire to win the game.

"That should never be questioned and I know all the players take it personally.

"It's only a minute amount on Twitter, every club and every player has them.

"It doesn't mean we don't care about them but they have to realise what has happened at this club over the past four or five years and that it has taken a lot of bloody hard work from everybody, including the fans, to get them here."
