Footballers arrested in Gateshead – Bellamy and Dyer not involved!

A night out by Celtic players was interrupted by a photographer from the Daily Record and the well-oiled footballers took exception to his presence.

The result was the arrest of Neil Lennon for a breach of the peace and of a number of other players on suspicion of theft of the photographer’s camera.

At the time of writing Belgian international Joos Valgaeran, Swedish defender Johan Mjallby and Dutch winger Bobby Petta, are still in custody – although whether this is any indication of guilt or whether they were just too drunk to be questioned is unclear.

There is one Toon player in trouble though – Clarence Acuna was arrested and charged with drinking and driving on Monday night.
