Sir Alex Ferguson: "The players wouldn't forgive me if I played the strongest team at Hull.

"They would say 'What?'

"It actually would be the best thing that could happen to Hull really. They would relish that.

"The rest of the league may think it was good because United would be playing their strongest team but it is the worst thing that could happen to us.

"If you have a European final on the Wednesday and you get one of these 50-50 tackles in the first minute when the crowd is roaring, you just end up saying that is enough for me.

"It is a fact of life.

"I can assure everyone not to worry about my team.

"If I can trust these lads in a semi-final, why can't I trust them in the last game of the season when we have already won the league?

"To play players who have represented us in big games in other big games is just a natural thing for us."
