And in true Manchester United fashion - it's EVERYONE else to blame - but not them!

Yes, the Cockney Gloryseekers continue to be a law unto themselves, and the most hated club in world football.

Apparently Sir Alex Ferguson left Wayne Rooney out of his Manchester United squad as he did not want to subject the striker to "terrible abuse".

Well kick my arse and call me 'Happy'.

And as we all saw after his non-event in South Africa in the World Cup, the baldy little tosser doesn't like the Boo-Boys on his back, and I'm sure if he HAD played at Goodison he would have found a TV camera to vent his frustration.

Rooney, who left Everton to join the Cockney Gloryseekers six years ago, is never the most popular fugure to return Goodison Park, but you 'live by the sword - you die by the sword'.

Ferguson opted against sending Rooney into the lion's den and left the 24-year-old out of his 18-man squad for the eventful 3-3 draw.

Ferguson: "We made a decision simply because he gets terrible abuse here. We don't want to subject him to that.

Assistant boss Mike Phelan: "Wayne wasn't ready to play so we didn't play him."

Manchester United threw away two points at Everton courtesy of Mikel Arteta's dramatic equaliser.

With Rooney left out but United winning 3-1 heading into added time, Tim Cahill's header put the Toffees back in the game before Arteta rifled home a deflected leveller to snatch a 3-3 draw.

Steven Pienaar had given Everton the lead but Darren Fletcher, Nemanja Vidic and Dimitar Berbatov had seemingly turned the game on its head before the hosts' late rally.

Elsewhere in the Barclays Premier League, leaders Chelsea strolled to a 3-1 win as West Ham's woeful start to the season continued.

Just two minutes in, Michael Essien headed home a Didier Drogba corner. Fifteen minutes later it was 2-0 thanks to some comical Hammers defending.

Robert Green inexplicably spilled Drogba's long-range free-kick and when Matthew Upson tried to hack it clear, he only succeeded in hitting the ball off Salomon Kalou's leg and into the net.

Another Essien header made it 3-0 moments before Scott Parker's beautiful volleyed lob reduced the deficit. Frederic Piquionne was then guilty of a horrendous miss for the Hammers as Chelsea took all three points.

Arsenal produced an impressive performance to beat Bolton 4-1 at the Emirates.

Laurent Koscielny's well-taken goal gave them the lead before Johan Elmander's header for the Trotters before half-time.

Marouane Chamakh restored the lead with a 58th-minute header before Gary Cahill was controversially sent off just after the hour mark for a foul on the Moroccan. Alex Song's lovely chip and Carlos Vela's cool finish put the game beyond Bolton to cap a classy team performance.

Blackburn left Eastlands with a point after Manchester City midfielder Patrick Vieira spared his defence's blushes following a first-half mix-up.

Rovers had led after goalkeeper Joe Hart and defender Kolo Toure both went for the ball and let in Nikola Kalinic to score in the 25th minute. However, City equalised 10 minutes into the second half through Vieira after good interplay with Carlos Tevez.

Rafael van der Vaart was denied a winning start for Tottenham as they drew 1-1 at West Brom.

Luka Modric's technically astute volley gave Tottenham a 27th-minute lead away to West Brom but Chris Brunt nodded home an equaliser before the break.

Record signing Asamoah Gyan came off the bench to score for Sunderland at Wigan but Antolin Alcaraz's late equaliser denied him a winning debut.

Gyan had brilliantly converted Jordan Henderson's sublime right-wing cross before Alcaraz scrambled home to make it 1-1.

Black Cats skipper Lee Cattermole had been given a second silly red card of the season so far for two bookings within the opening 22 minutes.

Fulham snatched a 2-1 win over Wolves thanks to Moussa Dembele.

Jelle van Damme gave Wolves a 10th-minute lead but summer signing Dembele equalised within four minutes of the restart as Fulham bucked up their ideas and looked to win it.

Wolves' Christophe Berra was sent off late on before the former AZ Alkmaar striker rifled home a low free-kick in the last minute.
