Faye Misses Out

Newcastle's Amdy Faye suffered World Cup heartache yesterday - despite helping Senegal to a 3-0 qualifying win over Mali. The midfielder, signed by Graeme Souness from Portsmouth last January, hoped to join his team-mate Michael Owen in Germany this July.
Faye played the final 20 minutes as two goals from Wigan striker Henri Camara and one from Bolton's El-Hadji Diouf clinched victory.
But Togo's victory against Congo meant they, not Senegal, qualified, joining Angola, Ghana and the Ivory Coast in the finals - the first time four African nations have qualified.
