The Egyptian international, who has returned from injury looking five stone over-weight, took abuse when Newcastle drew 2-2 at Middlesbrough in August.

Mido: "If they do start chanting again I will just make sure that I keep my head calm and aim to do well for the team.

"But I hope we don't hear it -- it is terrible when you hear people making chants about race, colour, religion or whatever.

"You don't normally hear that sort of stuff in everyday life here and it should be absolutely kept out of football. That is especially the case in England, where people should understand that they, more than anyone, can set an example.

"I just hope that if we do hear it again the Football Association will take the right decisions. It's not only about me, it affects everyone."
