The chaos behind the scenes at St James' Park has been revealed by a United player who said the situation as "a shambles", and Ashley is looking for a quick get-a-way.

As for the fans, it seems all protests are NOT being shelved even though they have convinced Ashley to ship out, and there is still the matter of who will manage the team.

They want Ashley to kick out Wise and bring back Keegan, and that could save Ashley a lot of grief in the short term.

Steve Howey, who played for the club for 11 years, warned the turmoil meant relegation was "not an unrealistic possibility".

Paul Ince or Gus Poyet will hardly walk out of secure jobs at Blackburn and Spurs if a new owner is around the corner with his own plans.

Newcastle fans have ignored Ashley's plea for demonstrations to stop.

Fanzine editors Mark Jensen and Michael Martin said: "Protests at the running of the club by Ashley, Wise and Llambias needs to continue. There are many of us who worry for the future when this man and his employees remain in charge."
