FA chiefs contacted the Toffees amid allegations that racist comments were made during angry exchanges between the Turkish midfielder and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard and defender Joleon Lescott as the Magpies went down 3-0 at Goodison Park on December 30.

FA spokesman: "Everton were asked for their observations by the FA. We have received their response and are now giving it due consideration."

Emre is also being linked with a move away from Newcastle to Bayern Munich. It is rumoured if Owen Hargreaves leaves the club to join Manchester United (as expected) Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness has stated he would be interested in the Turk. BUT ... Hoeness says Hargreaves will not leave the club during the January transfer window although he has left the door open for the England midfielder to move on in the summer.
