The Republic of Ireland international spent four years with the Magpies.

O'Brien: "I think there's a fantastic atmosphere at Newcastle and it will be extra special on Saturday.

"It's one of the biggest stadiums in the country and it was always an honour to play there.

"It's a shame they haven't won anything in recent years but that's for the powers that be to sort out and it appears the appointment they've made is a very popular one.

"It looks like it's certainly created a positive atmosphere up there because he's come as close to winning something as any manager has in the last 50 years at Newcastle.

"Bobby Robson had a good period, finishing third, fourth and fifth while I was there. But I think everybody remembers Newcastle getting pipped by Manchester United in 1996.

"I'm personally looking forward to going back but you only enjoy something when you get the right result.

"It's an important game because Newcastle are only six points ahead of us so we've got to concentrate on ourselves.

"We've got to get down to business and after Saturday's game, I wish Newcastle well."
