Striker Andy Carroll is set to return to the Newcastle side as they look to confirm their return to the Premier League against Sheffield United.

Carroll is expected to shake off an ankle injury and he says he is "desperate to be involved", saying he would even play on crutches!

After making five changes against Peterborough, Hughton is preparing to utilise his full squad again, with wingers Jonas Gutierrez and Wayne Routledge, midfielder Danny Guthrie and striker Peter Lovenkrands all hoping to play a part.

Steven Taylor and Fitz Hall both remain on the sidelines with their respective knee injuries.

NEWCASTLE UNITED (probable, 4-4-2): Harper; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Enrique; Routledge, Guthrie, Nolan, Gutiérrez; Løvenkrands, Carroll.
