Newcastle maybe in a dodgy relegation-threatened situation, but they certainly won't go down without a fight.

And Everton found them showing their teeth.

Toffee's midfielder Mikel Arteta has been ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing a cruciate ligament in his right knee against Newcastle.

The Spanish playmaker was carried off on a stretcher only three minutes into the game and was on his way back to Merseyside even before the end of the first half.

Scans revealed the full seriousness of the injury and the 26-year-old, who has scored seven goals this season, now faces months on the sidelines.
