Taylor insists he is NOT about to hand in a transfer request at Newcastle United, but with Mike Ashley selling anyone who can bring in the money .... Taylor is getting a little concerned.

The defender appeared emotional as he left the field at the end of Saturday's 3-0 win over Reading, knowing he could be sacrificed if owner Mike Ashley fails to sell the club this week.

But we hear today the former England-Under 21 skipper will not push for a transfer away from his hometown club.

Instead he will wait on developments off the field, with Tyneside businessman Barry Moat still in the running to takeover the stricken club.

Everton are understood to have made an enquiry about Taylor last week, with David Moyes ready to bid upwards of £6m for the 23-year-old should he lose Joleon Lescott to Manchester City.

Losing 6-1 is the perfect indication that all is not well in the Everton defence and Moyes is ready to 'splash the cash'.
