He is the laughing stock of Saturday afternoon viewing, and even his fellow TV pundits love nothing more than making him the centre of ridicule.
But his comments about the Magpies took ignorance to a new level.
Crooks knows as much about Newcastle as the average Toon fan knows about flower arranging.
Nobody worth their salt wants to walk into a job that has no future.
The fact remains, Ashley will sell and the new buyer will bring back Kevin Keegan ... so why would any big name even consider the position?
For God's sake ... even Terry Venables has rejected an offer from Ashley.
The People says Venables was made an offer by Ashley but refused the opportunity to end his five-year absence from management.
Venables knows he would have been a short-term successor to Keegan and many suggest the 'Cockney Mafia Out' banner at St James' Park made up his mind ... as after all ... he was born in Dagenham!
