Enrique Out - Taylor In - Where's The Ambition?

And if he goes ... and it still seems most likely ... Alan Pardew will replace him with Swansea defender Neil Taylor.

Did anyone know of the 22-year-old Welshman before this week?

The Taff defender could walk away from the Liberty Stadium for a fee as minimal as just £1 Million.

Taylor joined Swansea from Wrexham on a three-year contract for a tribunal-fixed fee of £150,000 plus 10% of any future transfer profit at the end of the 2009-2010 season.

Pardew told us BEFORE the West Brom game: "I want to make signings as early as possible, and I will probably bring in two players this week.

"I want them here so they can settle, and the sooner they become Newcastle players ... the better".

That was four weeks ago.

The former West Ham boss is not only struggling to attract the big names, but he seems to be struggling to attract the 'bargain bin' players too.

Kevin Nolan has refused to sign a new contract (the same as Enrique) and Mike Ashley has told Joey Barton there is no deal on the table.

The three players Pardew insisted he wanted to "tie up on long term contacts".

The January transfer window was horrendous for Newcastle ... and the summer window isn't exactly going as Pardew planned, either.

FOREWORD BY FAIRS CUP HERO JOHN McNAMEE

JM

Sports Journalist Richie Everson: "At last a book that the fabulous Newcastle United fans can relate to. It's informative, all the facts and figures are there, plus the 120 match reports from all the fixtures ... but it is the articles by the supporters that amazed me.

"I went to many of those games, and this is the only book I can honestly say 'hits the nail on the head'!

"Yes we know the results and the scorers, but some of the facts in this book had me so wrapped up in it I couldn't put it down.

"Was Benny Arentoft cup-tied when he played in the final? Big Wyn and his battle with John McGrath; McFaul scoring a penalty when the crowd had gone home; the trouble in Palermo; it is all amazing stuff.

"I would honestly give this book 10 out of 10."
