The 26-year-old Turkey international has endured troubled times this season having been accused of racially abusing Everton players during his side's 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park in December.

But an independent commission found the charge against him not proven.

His future has been up in the air with the player at one time suggesting he would leave in the summer, but he insists he is happy at St James' Park.

Emre: "I am really happy to stay at Newcastle. I like the city, the people, I have a lot of friends here now.

"This is my second year and I am really happy here. I have three more years on my contract and I do not see any problems next season because I really want to stay here.

"For us, maybe Europe is finished and we do not have any worries about going down.

"Now in these three weeks, we have to try to get nine points. If we work really hard, we can get those nine points.
"Every game against a big team is an important game for us. Chelsea have good players and it was a very important game for us.

"We have three games left now and we have not lost to any of the big teams at home this year.

"Against the big teams, they want to play football, and that is important for us.

"But even then, they are difficult games. We have good players, but the big teams have good players as well."
