Emre To Snub German Interest

Bayern Munich and Turkish champions Fenerbahce, the club who wanted him as a boy before he opted to join his boyhood heroes Galatasaray, can both offer European football. But the ex-Inter midfielder says he is happy on Tyneside.

The £17m move for Hargreaves leaves Bayern's midfield under strength, and coach Ottmar Hitzfeld today claimed he was ready to "rebuild" his side after the German giants missed out on a place in the Champions League this term for the first time in 11 seasons by finishing fourth and seeing Stuttgart lift the Bundesliga title.

Emre: "I still have three years with my club. I feel sorry for Glenn Roeder. He really helped me out, so I tried to be by his side during this ordeal.

"It had nothing to do with him being an incompetent coach. He had five to six injured players every game. Michael Owen, Damien Duff and Kieron Dyer, just to name a few.

"A return to Turkey does not interest me at this stage in my career. I am happy at Newcastle."
