Emre has recovered from that late lunge by Wigan's Lee McCulloch, that saw the Wigan player sent off on Saturday. The collision with McCulloch caused anxiety to both the Toon dug-out and travelling Geordies when he went down in a heap following the Scotsman's clumsy challenge.
However, Emre said: "He's kicked me, but I'm OK thankfully, the hamstring's OK, he only kicked my leg. I think it was the correct decision that he was sent off.
"I played 45 minutes for Turkey and I was OK, maybe the next game against Sunderland I can start from the first period. Maybe not the full game, but 60 minutes.
"I lost six weeks - which is a long time - but I feel better now. I'm very sorry because I want to play every game. Last season I didn't play for three months in Italy, but I'm strong now.
"This is my first (Tyne-Wear) derby, but I've heard so much about them already. Every derby atmosphere is different and I enjoy every game. I played in derbies in Turkey so much, and the same in Italy. When I play I'm very happy, and I'm looking forward to Sunday."
