Emre Flies To Turkey

Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder: "Emre has now gone to Turkey to link up with the national squad for the games against Greece and Norway. He can look forward to those two games and they will be good for him in terms of building up his match fitness as he has not played much football since the turn of the year.

"I thought the hearing was very fair and that the decision that has been made was the correct one. In the time I have worked with Emre, he has never shown any tendencies towards being racist and, as people know, that is a subject I feel very strongly about.

"Now I just hope Emre will be left alone to resume his career without anything hanging over him.

"It has been a difficult time for Emre but I know he has been very appreciative of the support he has received from everyone within the squad and around the club.

"He is a very well respected member of the squad and he gets on very well with everyone at the club."

Emre was charged after angry exchanges with Tim Howard, Joleon Lescott and Joseph Yobo during his side's 3-0 Barclays Premiership defeat at Everton on December 30. And it will be interesting to see the reaction of both sets of players the next time Newcastle play Everton.
