The midfielder injured a tendon in the Carling Cup defeat at Wigan towards the end of October and failed to return over the festive period. But he is hopeful he can be involved this weekend.

Emre: “I feel much, much better now. I will train with our fitness coach Paul Winsper over the next couple of days, and do some ball work as well as condition work. I have been tired in training, but that isn’t surprising because I have been injured for six or seven weeks now. Hopefully by the end of the week, possibly Thursday, I will be with the group and then it will be up to the gaffer whether I play or not. I think it will be Thursday or Friday when a decision is made, but at this moment in time I’m hopeful I can play against Blackburn.

“This is a different injury to the one I had the last time. I had a hamstring at the start of the season, but this latest problem is a tendon on my left leg. I have found it tough to be out for such a long time, I want to play every game, like every player. We haven’t had a game this season where we have had every player fit, and it has been a big problem for us.”
