Dyer - I had a stinker

"It was a bit of an anticlimax," admitted the Newcastle United star.

Quiet game
"It always seems to happen, you get a big build-up and then have a stinker, but that's football.

"I won't dwell on it though. I am extremely confident that if I stay fit and do the business for Newcastle I have a great chance of being on that plane.

"I just started off poorly and couldn't get into the game.

"I gave a couple of balls away and just couldn't get myself out of it.

"The boss was delighted with the result and he knows players can't play unbelievably well all the time. Since I came back for Newcastle I haven't had too many bad games.

"He told me before the game I was only playing 45 minutes, that was always the plan - even though my fitness is one of my strengths and I tend to come to life in the second half.

"Newcastle are still going for the Champions League and having had my stress fracture I can't play too many games in a week."
