Reiziger told his personal website: "There are rumours in the English newspapers that Newcastle have put in a bid for me, which I have to say is quite surprising as I haven’t heard anything about it here in Barcelona.
"As I’ve said before, when I do leave Spain I would prefer to move to England and Newcastle would definitely be interesting. I’ve played against them twice already this season and I think they’re a good young team.
"They’re doing well and their captain, Shearer, is very impressive. To be the Premiership’s top scorer at his age is fantastic. I’ve also heard great things about Sir Bobby Robson here in Barcelona, so I think I would enjoy working with him."
