Big Dunc arrived at his home in Formby to find 37-year-old Carl Bishop in his house and managed to catch and restrain the intruder until Police arrived.
Bishop has admitted intent to steal and will be sentenced next month, but staggeringly has complained to Police that he was assaulted during the struggle.
The incident is similar to one two years ago when Ferguson came home to discover two intruders in his home and managed to apprehend one of them, who subsequently required a three-day hospital stay. Both men later received 15-month prison sentences.
