Duff "Half Truth"?

According to Alan Oliver from the Evening Chronicle, Damien Duff turned down no fewer than six top clubs to join Newcastle United.

Oliver: "Duff's advisors told me that the Republic of Ireland international was wanted by Inter Milan, Valencia, his former club Blackburn Rovers and Spurs as well as Merseyside pair Everton and Liverpool.

"And they admitted that they did not have a lot of advising to do because it was always going to be Duff's decision where he went and that Newcastle United was always going to be his first choice."

However, reports from Chelsea again insist that Jose Mourinho ruled out any move to either Tottenham or Liverpool.

Duff will not play in the testimonial at Norwich City but will play some part in Saturday's friendly with PSV Eindhoven at St James' Park.
