Don't Twist Pardew's Words!

He has told the Journal that the national media should not compare Ayoze Perez to Alan Shearer.

Now let's drop a bombshell on the Daily Mirror's philosophy here.

Wor Jackie

Nobody ... and i mean NOBODY (apart from Wor Jackie) ... gets compared to Alan Shearer on Tyneside.

Perez signed from Tenerife in the summer, and Tenerife is known for sun, sea, black sand, Las Americas and its nightlife ... not producing football stars.

But the kid arrived, took his time to settle in "sun-kissed Newcastle", but he has netted in the Magpies’s last three Premier League games.

Three goals isn't quite the 200-plus Shearer scored for Newcastle, but it's an achievement, at a time we were desperate for "an achievement".

And Pardew is right to put the record straight.

This morning the Chronicle lead with the headlines that Pardew was telling the supporters not to "put pressure" on the kid.

That is wrong! He aimed his comments at the MEDIA ... not the FANS!

Alan Pardew: “At the moment, he’s fearless.

“He’s got the wind in his sails and is going along very nicely. He’s been very sharp in training. He’s a threat.

“If you take your eye off him, he’s a predator. I’m sure QPR will be having conversations of how to look after him.

“He’s difficult to pin down, his movement is very clever.

“But he’s a young player. Some of the headlines have been way off the mark – the new Alan Shearer, the new Andy Cole.

“This is a boy who has played three games. Those players are legends and have done it all.

“Ayoze is just setting foot in the Premier League, but I have to say he’s done really well so far. I’m pleased with him.”
