Talksport....just can't "get" the Newcastle fans sometimes.. ...
....they've got to show Mike Ashley some respect and appeciation for what he's done and it will bond the club even more.....you look at all these clubs in financial turmoil and Newcastle are a lot more stable with Mike Ashley stabalising them with his money and sensible fiscal policies.... on the field looking very good and Mick Martin on the same show said when comparing them to Man City the team spirit at Newcastle means a hell of a lot against the superstars who don't have the same bond..... they've got a point everything seems to be gelling together ... i think CH is performing miracles and seems to be evolving rapidly.....if only the fans would unite behind MA and accept him for what he is ....as they called him on Talksport.... a brilliant businessman who has realised he's got something worth sticking with in a resurgent Newcastle United........I haven't been able to quote exact words cos my memories sh!t but this is what they were saying

Too true m8, it does my head in when you hear the fans singing anti-Ashley songs, especially when they are playing so well, ne wonder the whole country calls us geordies thick. Do they not realise the direction the club is going in, i havnt felt so optimistic about our club for years.
I honestly think some people just like to twist for twist's sake.......err wake up dopes and smell the coffee, NUFC are heading in the right direction, get behind your team ffs instead of trying to rock the boat.

Amandrik:

Right on!! It's Time for the 'doubters and moaners', the 'we will struggle, we're not good enough' the 'Ashley is a coont out to destroy our club' Brigade to start getting behind the Toon.

Yorkshire_Mag:

As much as I can't stand the fella...Your right! Just look were we are in the League
Just look at the result last night The Team at the moment are playing as a team which surely is what we all want?

toonlegend:

Mike ashley has not done anything yet to earn any respect... so why should he get it? because hughton, against the odds has so far done a brilliant job, because the players have banded together to form a tight "comrades in arms" mentality and spirit that has restored THEIRs and OUR battered pride......

it is they who have earned the right to be shown respect..... not ashley

Toonmad84:

I understand your point, but who doesn't get behind the team? Going to all the home games and most away games, I can tell you that the anti-Ashley songs are very few and far between these days. Where you say "wake up and smell the coffee" this could easily be thrown straight back at you.

I do not like Mike Ashley, but if he continues to do the right thing then I'll forgive him. I won't forgive him for how he treated Keegan, Shearer or for the contempt he's continually treated us with, but if he does the right things, like he did in the summer (statement aside) then fair do's.

However, imo - he will sell the club if a 'reasonable offer' comes along, and he will sell players for the same reason. Like I said this is my opinion, and nothing anyone says will convince me otherwise, because I don't trust the man and because he's shown before he's protecting an investment, nothing more.

Another thing I will say is that it is only September and we've got 7 points on the board. In May, when we've got 40 odd points and are safe, then I'll be crowing about the positive direction we're going in. Not now.
