Did Shay Want To Take The Penalty?

Reading boss Steve Coppell left the north-east bemoaning a costly penalty decision which came after Oba Martins went down under Ibrahima Sonko's challenge.

But it was comical watching the Toon players decide who was going to take it. As it happens, skipper Shay Given was too far up the pitch to get involved, or he could have taken it.

Coppell: "It is not often we give up the lead. The critical incident in the game was obviously the penalty decision.

"I will leave you to draw your own conclusion on that one - I certainly have my conclusion.

"That gave them the impetus then and it was disappointing that the winning goal came from a misunderstanding from a couple of our lads in the middle of the park.

"But to be fair to the lad, it was a great run with real purpose and a terrific strike."
