Cup opponents in disarray

After a poor start to the season Dave Jones’ team had recovered well and looked set for a play off place, only to be hit by a run of five games without a win.

Owner Sir Jack Hayward has made his feelings about the state of affairs at Molineux known, telling the Birmingham Evening Post: "He promised he would have us in the top six by Christmas so, good God, I am not happy.

"He has been told in no uncertain terms what is required. We have got to start winning and he knows what we have to do. We have asked him what's happening and told him we are worried about it."

Jones’ plight was made worse today when Chelsea recalled on-loan striker Carlton Cole, leaving him with just George Ndah available up front for Sunday as any loan signing would not be registered in time.

With Wolves absolutely desperate for a win we probably couldn’t have met them at a worse time.
