Ashley has dropped to 14th in British football's rich list.

The Toon chief was worth £1.6bn in FourFourTwo magazine's poll last year and sat in fifth place.

But the Geordie Hoodoo of bad luck has hit him hard.

We've won bugger all since 1955 (if you discount the Fairs Cup, which is no more) and the Buckinghamshire-born Ashley suddenly knows what it is like to be a Geordie.

Although I don't know too many Geordies with £800m.
