"We brought Lee Clark in primarily to work with the young players," said Souness. "Everyone knows Lee's feelings towards this club and I said to him at the time 'anything could happen, if we get injuries, you could find yourself in the first team', and that's exactly what's happened.
"He's not let anyone down, but that's not a surprise to anyone, especially me. We asked him if he was interested in joining us on a short contract and it's turned out differently to what we all thought, but he's let no-one down.
"I'm very, very happy for him because this is his first love in football terms. He loves this football club and you can see that every day when he turns up for work. He's a pleasure to work with."
