Clark is in talks with Norwich City over becoming assistant manager to former the Newcastle United boss.

Roeder was appointed as Peter Grant's successor at Carrow Road earlier this week, and has moved quickly to put together his backroom team.

Clark is currently Newcastle's reserve team coach, and his former Fulham boss Chris Coleman had wanted to take him to Spain as part of his coaching staff after being appointed Real Sociedad manager in June.

He joined Newcastle in 1988 and made more than 250 appearances for the club.

Great player during his career at SJP and always wore the shirt with pride.

Moved to Sunderland for £4m and stunned everyone, but fell out with the Mackem public when he wore a SMB T-shirt at a Newcastle FA Cup final.

A Geordie institution. Returned to Newcastle (from Fulham) in the summer of 2005. Became reserve team coach in 2006 when Tommy Craig stepped down.
