Clark Gets New Deal

Clark rejoined United at the start of August on a six-month contract as a would-be coach. But the midfielder - a month short of his 33rd birthday - has forced his way into the first team . . . and now earned a dream reward.

"My intention is to have a word with the chairman and extend Lee's contract until the end of this season," manager Graeme Souness last night told the Sunday Sun.

"The dressing-room has to be filled with good characters," added Souness. "This is his football club."
