Chelsea star linked with Newcastle move

Damien Duff has once more been linked with a move to Newcastle United.

Reports are emerging today that Graeme Souness is poised to make a January move for the Irish international with the board willing to sanction extra funds if Duff is available.

This news of course is all hearsay and until we see Duff posing with a black ‘n’ white scarf over his head then I refuse to get too excited.

His arrival would however be very welcome.  A lot of fans have lost patience with Laurent Robert and Souness certainly appears less than keen on the Frenchman.  It is believed that he may even start with Milner down the left on Sunday which would be a huge blow for Robert and would no doubt result in ‘I want away’ noises on Monday morning.

Duff is a complete winger who would offer that natural width we have longed for in recent weeks.  Robert squanders possession all too easily and despite an improved work rate of late his overall contribution remains inadequate.

His addition would strengthen the side without question and would show an ambition from our somewhat out of favour board that they are willing to back Souness in our quest for that long overdue trophy.
