Carver has four months at St James' Park then he knows the job is up for grabs.
But he has put an iron in the fire suggesting he could go to Selhurst Park if he fails to impress in the job at St James' Park.
But Carver said: “There’s no reason for me to go to Crystal Palace unless I lose my job here!”
