It all looked good in the summer when he signed for North End. Bhe was sent home in disgrace from the England Under-19 squad; took a roasting from Sam Allardyce; failed to score in his early games at Deepdale; was sent-off and banded for three games; then dropped from the first team.
Carroll: got that one, hopefully there will be many more to come after it.
"Hopefully it is the first one which will set us on our way. I have got a lot of pressure on my back to come here and score goals, which I haven't been doing in the few games I have played.
"But now I have got one, let's hope on Saturday I can get my second and then my third and keep going from there."
