The Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre is due to open on Friday, after the £500,000 target was raised in just seven weeks.
Capello Gives Sir Bobby A Helping Hand!
Former England manager Sir Bobby will be joined by the man currently in charge of the national team, who will be making a £75,000 donation to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation on behalf of the FA.
Sir Bobby Robson: "I'm very much looking forward to stepping inside the new centre for the first time.
"The team staffing it are second to none and I'm extremely proud to have my name associated with such a wonderful facility. I can still hardly believe the incredible support we've had.
"The generous donations from the ordinary, if I can say that, man or woman on the street ... it's been overwhelming."
More than £1.2m has already been raised by The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, to fight cancer across the north east.
