PSV appeared set for an easy night's work when De Jong scored twice in the opening eight minutes but Markus Henriksen halved the gap just before half-time, while Robert Muhren levelled matters shortly after the resumption.
Georginio Wijnaldum put Phillip Cocu's men back in front in the 58th minute before De Jong sealed victory almost immediately afterwards.
That gave PSV a 15-point lead over Ajax.
