Campbell – who has made four substitute appearances in pre-season – spent the second half of last season at Scottish Premier League side St Mirren.
But his last two loan deals have been a disaster with both St Mirren and Carlisle dropping him because he showed very little Premiership quality.
Some feel Alan Pardew would take any offer for the 19-year old, who has faded away in the last 12 months..
