It has been said many times that Sir Alex Ferguson on sells a player when he's past his best, and the Toon certainly learnt that lesson when Sir Bobby Robson bought Nicky Butt.

Butt has revealed that he wants to turn his loan move to Birmingham into a permanent move, and admitted that he would definately like to stop at Birmingham as he's enjoyed himself and is working alongside a great bunch of hard working lads.

Nicky Butt: "I would definitely like to stop here. I have enjoyed myself and there are a great bunch of lads at the club who work hard.

"The coaches and management are good and I am happy. If we can kick on, get up the table and the manager decides to keep me at the end of the season, then all well and good.

"I was happy to come to Birmingham and it still feels like the right move. I think the belief (to avoid relegation) is still there. It has to be if we are going to get out of this situation."
