Smith has already missed three games through suspension this season but he is in the clear as far as another ban goes, as FA rules will see the slate wiped clean for all players nearing 10 bookings on the second Sunday in April.
However Butt has chalked up 13 bookings, and if he moves onto the 15 mark before the end of the season he will pick-up an automatic three-match ban.
